FORTISSIMA at the Colburn School
The culmination of a six-month experience for 10 young women that includes mentorship and virtual engagement, and a weeklong residential intensive at the Colburn School. Lead by Music Director Jannina Norpoth and Program Director, Jazmine Morales, the program is provided at no cost to participants. Housed under the Colburn School’s Center for Innovation and Community Impact, Fortissima is a national artistic and leadership development program for young women of color in classical music. Fortissima’s innovative leadership curriculum, paired with rigorous artistic development and one-on-one mentorship, is designed to inspire, equip, and empower high school age young women from underrepresented minorities to pursue professional training and careers in the field. The program will close with a concert by FORTISSIMA students of works by Florence Price, Jessie Montgomery, Teresa Carreño, Inti Figgis-Vitzueta, Monthati Masebe, and Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges.
