What is American? By Any Means Necessary

“What is American?” A question who's answer lies in the hands of the beholder. The PUBLIQuartet – “a perfect encapsulation of today's trends in chamber music” – proves that the term string quartet is increasingly encompassing. Combining improvisation, interweaving genres, and collaborating with composers, they place the string quartet at the center of social discussions. PUBLIQuartet will make it's debut in the Netherlands during the String Quartet Biennale.

What is American: By Any Means Necessary, is in fact summary of everything the PUBLIQuartet does – a search for what it really means to be American and a string quartet. Heritage and tradition plays an important and inspiring role and this program that is rooted and inspired by the individual members and composers "family trees".
